Film and Lecture Series

This lecture series by Prof. Daniel Wildmann (Leo Baeck Institute London, Queen Mary University of London) will discuss how film uses emotions to convey moral values. What is at stake when Jewish characters are at the centre of the plot? What do we learn about the place of Jews and Judaism in German society? And last but not least: What do we learn in films about Nazi Germany when these films discuss issues of moral judgment and justice?

Each screening will begin with a short introduction and will be followed by a Q&A session. This week's film will be Die Sehnsucht der Veronica Voss (Rainer Werner Fassbinder, FRG, 1982, 100 mins. b/w). See the invitation for the complete program.
