Anna Juraschek was a Research Fellow at the Rosenzweig Center from January to June 2013. Her research project was on the idea of image in Bruno Schulz’s literature, thinking and art. Due to several similarities between the ideas and perspectives of Bruno Schulz’s and Walter Benjamin’s philosophy, she compared their theory of image and art within the context of their time. Both observed the ongoing transformation in society and analyzed possible causes within the development of technology and natural sciences. The comparison of Benjamin and Schulz under the aspect of art allows to develop a philosophical theory of image production, perception and the effect of pictures on reality-comprehension and the other way round in a Jewish-Polish-German context.
