Michal Peles-Almagor researches modern Hebrew literature in comparative and multilingual contexts, focusing on Hebrew-German literary exchange and cultural history in the early to mid-twentieth century. Her Broader interests also include theater and performance and contemporary Israeli literature. At the Rosenzweig Center, Peles-Almagor will focus on the role of Hebrew literature and writings in the German-Jewish imagination of home, examining trajectories of cultural transfer within the intertwined worlds of Hebrew and German Jewish spheres.

Peles-Almagor received her PhD from the University of Chicago with a dissertation titled “Writing at the Threshold: Language and Home in Twentieth-Century Hebrew and German Literature.”
